A Police Officer may run your plate for no reason at all, in fact we do it all the time to check the status of a vehicle. Since a license plate is out in the open, there is no "reasonable expectation of privacy". As far as checking you for warrants, you can run the registered owner (RO) of the vehicle for warrants but that might not be who is driving the vehicle. If the RO is ran and is found to have warrants the officer may initiate a traffic stop. If the driver is not the RO but still has warrants they will still be arrested because even though the officer was not looking for that person he was still acting in "good faith". However if your driving a vehicle and the RO has no warrants, but you do, the officer would need to have "probable cause" to pull the vehicle over to conduct a warrant check of the driver or ANY occupant of the vehicle. Unless that officer has prior knowledge of someone in the car with a criminal want in which case he may stop the vehicle on that basis. All running a license plate does is tell you the year and make of the vehicle, whether the registration is current, if its stolen or not, and who the registered owner is. Warrant checks are based on your personal information, D.O.B., Social Security number, name etc etc. Hope this helps.
If the police have the proper warrants, yes.
They contact the police station and give them the license number. The police station then looks up your license number to see if there are any warrants for your arrest, past driving record, past convictions, etc.
If the police came out and made a report of it then it will be on your driving record. It will be a not-at-fault accident but it will still be on your driving record. If the police did not come out but your insurance knows about it then it will be on your CLUE report and be a not-at-fault accident.
The Courthouse or Police Station.
You can usually attend at any police station and obtain a copy of your record, with proper Identification. This is not advisable if you are wanted, unless you intend to turn yourself in to deal with any outstanding warrants.
BI under driving record is a background investigation. This is done to check driving record, credit standing, and any arrests or encounters with police.
Yes, criminal warrants are a matter of public record.
They call the license number into a computer system. This will check the driving record. It will also insure that it is a valid drivers license. the system will also check the license against any outstanding warrants to see if the driver is wanted for anything.
Most warrants are FOREVER, or until the defendant dies.
The record of the fact that they were issued against you, yes. The warrants themselves will either become inactive when they are withdrawn or quashed, or the statute of limitations runs out on the offense you are charged with.
what is the importance of police record
A good driving record is a record that does not have any points on it. A good driving record is when a person does not have any tickets or accidents.
