I have a 1995 Ford Econoline van with an automatic transmission. When I went to drive the car today, the shift gear moved and shifted but would not go into gear. It's refusing to "click" into gear for Reverse, Neutral, or Drive, and has quite a problem clicking into Park as well. When I set the car to drive, it does not move, in fact it acts like it's in neutral. What's wrong with it? Is it the transmission, or possibly something else? If so, what?

If the gears are clunking in the transmission, this is a transmission problem in a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. The fact that the speedometer went up and back down suggests that the transmission slipped. It is more likely that a gear belt in the transmission failed, than something being wrong with the transfer case module or TCM.
I had the same problem there is a little switch next to the park switch on the tranny. Its white on mine. Mine had some dirt and junk in it. I lifted it up with the ebrake on and car in drive and the car went in gear. So i cleaned it out and the car engaged fine from there. I I nevcer had a problem since. think its a speed sensor or some sort of sensor. Not sure but it was white and had liquid in it. Once i cleaned it out and put the clip back into the switch the car engage just fine.
I had this problem and the cylinders filled up with gas, it turned out to be the timing chain tensioner gear which snapped and took out the motor , had to replace the motor. Hope that is not your problem as it has been a common fault with the 4 litre in 2001 , they had a nylon or neopreme gear on the tensioner mine went without warning at 125000 kms
