It is celebrated on the third Monday in February.
Manitoba has a Louis Riel Day. There have been a couple to attempts to establish a national Louis Riel Day, but each attempt has been tabled. The last attempt was around 1997. Eventually people will stop squabbling about this and he will be given proper recognition.
Louis Riel was the reason Manitoba was created. The metis were being treated unfairly so Louis Riel made a petition to make this happen and surprisingly it happened. Although it couldn't just happen instantly, it took alot of courage to make this happen, you needed to get a petition started and create a list of rights for the province and the people that will live in it like all provinces. Although it wasn't a very big piece of land, the metis and other people still appreciated it. anonymous.
In Manitoba the third Monday of February is Louis Riel Day. There are many buildings named after Riel, a bridge, a school division, and much more. We really can't forget him because in Western Canada he is remembered fondly and with respect. Not so much in Canada. Many there would rather forget that they had to use massive military force to get or keep Western Canada in the Canadian Empire.
Yes. When founding the province of Manitoba, Louis Riel wanted to change the Sabbath Day from Sunday to Saturday. He also wanted to change the names of weekdays to religious words/names.
Louis Riel was executed in present day Regina, Saskatchewan .
Riel was hanged in present day Regina, Saskatchewan.

3rd Monday of every February
A couple of statues have been made, one of which is on the grounds of the Manitoba provincial legislature. The province of Ontario has set aside a day to honour Riel, as have a number of organisations, and numerous books and articles have been written about him. Please see the link.
Marie-Angélique Riel was born 1883. A specific day and month is not recorded.
Because he is the father of Manitoba
it depends on your perspective. if you're on the English side, then Louis riel was a pest. if you're on the french side, then Louis riel was a great hero who defended their rights.
