A SPA will complete 25 of tasks before being considered for promotion. This will consist of 5 Question editing tasks, 5 Answer editing tasks, 5 recategorising tasks, 5 tasks working with alternates and 5 additional tasks. (Sometimes when an SPA works really hard, he or she will get promoted before finishing the 25 tasks so it all depends on the individual).
A SPA will follow these guidelines for at least a month before promotion to supervisor is considered:
Tasks - When a task is given, an SPA will complete it quickly and competently. They will be thorough and not just skip through it to get the job done. SPAs will not complain about tasks they are given for no good reason. However, SPAs will ask for help when they do not understand how to complete a task, instead of making a half-hearted attempt.
Working with tools - An SPA will be able to ask and answer questions, edit answers and questions, split alternates, and recategorise misplaced questions with ease.
Vandalism and Spam - An SPA will be able to recognise spam and vandalism, and know how to remove it. They will not vandalise questions or post spam, this includes message boards, and the community forum.
Message Boards - An SPA will know how to use a message board appropriately. They will not use it for excessive amounts of chatting. They will be able to listen to advice on how to use the tools and also communicate their own thoughts on matters.
Communication - An SPA will have good language skills. They will not answer any questions with "I don't know" or the like. They will not use "text language" such as "lol", "u" and the like in answers. They will be able to communicate in an appropriate manner, with clean language and good grammar.

How long does it take to go from Special Project Assistant to Category Supervisor or Floating Supervisor?
The time is takes for a Special Project Assistant (SPA) to be promoted to any kind of Supervisor is entirely dependent on the individual. Those that complete tasks quickly and show a great aptitude and knowledge of the site, progress quicker than others. Each SPA is assessed on their own merits and achievements, and there is no set time frame placed on the period they will remain an SPA. How long before they become a Supervisor is based solely on how well they complete the tasks set and their conduct on the site. Note that there is also a minimum age to be a supervisor.

What do category supervisors have to do to become a senior supervisor?
Category supervisors have to be nominated either by another supervisor or by a CA and then are reviewed by a pannel of CAs to determine if they feel you deserve to be promoted to becoming a Senior Supervisor. Senior Supervisors supervise top level categories on WikiAnswers and some also have additional tools they can use on the site.

Can you be a supervisor and a Special Project Assistant at the same time?
Yes! Any SPA that becomes a Supervisor is more than welcome to remain an SPA and continue to help out on the site by completing tasks! Once an SPA becomes a Supervisor, and they wish to continue as an SPA, the tasks will be tailored to take advantage of the Supervisor tools! Before the SPA Program was only for regular users. But now even if you become a supervisor you still can be a Special Project Assistant.
What can a Category Supervisor do that a Floating Supervisor cannot?
The only thing a Category Supervisor has that a Floating Supervisor does not is something on their profile that says the category(ies) they supervise, the category supervisor badge, and their username on the category that they supervise. Floating Supervisors and Category Supervisors still have the same super powers and abilities - Category Supervisors just have the fame of supervising a category, albeit it takes more responsibility.
Can you be a Floating Supervisor as well as a Category Supervisor?
No, you have to choose.You can be either a Floating Supervisor or a Category Supervisor. Category Supervisors supervise specificcategories - such as Animal Life, or Anime and Cartoons - while Floating Supervisors do not.If you are a category supervisor, are you limited to helping only in that specific category?Absolutely not. How does a Floating Supervisor become a Category Supervisor?
If a floating supervisor wishes to become a category supervisor, they can apply in the same way that a non-supervisor would, by sending an email to the appropriate email address.
Is it possible for a change of supervisor?
Yes, it is. Supervising a category is entirely volunteer. A supervisor may request to be taken off of that category. A category may also have more than one supervisor.
Can I request my personal TIP supervisor to be my Mentor when I am promoted to Supervisor?
Yes! It is perfectly acceptable to request that your TIP supervisor be your mentor when you are promoted to supervisor. You should try and ask your TIP supervisor as soon as possible after graduating from TIP so that they are aware of your request in time.
How does a Premier Answerer become a Category Supervisor?
