Id-ul-Fitr is celebrated on the begining 3 days of Shawwal (10th Month) and comes as a reward or celebration after a whole month of fasting in Ramadan (9th Month).

The Islamic calendar is based on Lunar system better known as the Hijrah Calendar and therefore the months on lunar calendar are not fixed and vary as with the general Gregorian Calendar being followed. Every Hijrah year has few less days than the previous Gregorian year and, therefore, cannot be pre-determined as opposed to the Gregorian Calendar. The main reason being that the months in lunar calendar can vary from 28 - 30 days depending on the lunar cycle.

For Example, in 2005 Id-ul-Fitr came on 3rd of November, in 2006 it was nearly on 26th of October and in 2007 it was celebrated on 12rh of October.

Eid al-Fitr falls on the first day of Shawwal.

This is a date in the lunar calendar; hence it translates to a different solar (Gregorian) date each year.

In 2013 Eid al-Fitr will fall on 8 August. In 2014 it will be 28 July. In 2015 it will be 17 July.

Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the Month of Ramadaan and takes place after the last day of Ramadaan.

In Islamic Culture a day is measuredfrom Magribto Magrib (sunset till sunset) and the month is a lunar calendar with either 29 days or 30 days. After the 29'th days magrib, moonsighters try to see the new moon. Seeing the new moon would mark the end of the month they were in and the start of the new month. Not sighting the new moon would mean that Muslims will fast an extra day, making it 30 days.

Eid-ul fitr would take place on the first dayof the new month.

What do you do to celebrate eid?

As a Muslim, Eid is to be considered as your celebration day. You should enjoy it as much as you can, you should also share this enjoyment with your family, relatives, and friends. There are certain things you should do in each eid. for example, in eld alftar , the one after Ramadan ends, you should give your "Zkah Alftar", which consist of about 3k of rice, flour ...etc. And so on. On both the two eids, the best thing to be done is that Muslims pray in the morning (after sunrise) the eid prayer. For eid Al-Fitr, they pay Zakat Alfitr before the eid prayer. On eid Al-Adha, Muslims make the sacrifice after the eid prayer.
