Well, a Cristian friend of mine said that The Bible said (and then quoted me the verse)

"Man shall never know when the Jesus will come down again"

Okay, Christianity doesn't know.

The Mayan long count calendar doesn't end at 2012, it just starts a new 'series'. The Mayans thought that planet earth had (correct me if I'm wrong on the numbers) 7 'series' and that 2012 was completing 'series #3' going into 'series #4'. The world won't end because of this either.

The I Ching (Equivalent to the Chinese Bible (what I'm telling you is simplified to be more understandable)) predicts the end in 2012 thanks to "Timewave Zero" (<wiki it). However the I Ching makes predictions from the user flipping a sequence of coins, checking heads or tails, the looking up in the index what the amount of heads mean. The user then looks at the number of heads and finds a symbol, he goes to the corresponding page and reads the prediction.

Flipping coins, reliable, you choose.
