Usally when it is humid and very hot
Crested geckos thrive in a habitat that is usually ranging from 16-17 Degrees Celcius up to 25-30 Degrees celcius with a humid ex. When the "winter season" approaches in their natural habitat, they tend to eat less, sleep more, and become a little less socialable. This is due to the lower tempuratures during the winter. Breeding season takes place when tempuratures are more regulated. Meaning their spring and summer season is best. In captivity some breeders provide this cooling period for their crested geckos, others do not. Breeders do reccomend that the females recieve a break from males, and this should be done during the winter months.
Geckos will breed during the early months of spring up until the later months of summer. This will vary depending on which part of the world the species comes from.

With crested geckos, females are usually bigger than the males, as they need the extra weight to sustain the breeding season. Females usually reach 8-10", while males reach 7-9".
Crested geckos are solitary creatures, as with most gecko species. They will only interact with one of the same species during breeding season. Males will seek out females and copulate then leave and carry on, seeking another mate. If two males confront one another, they will fight for rights to breed and territory. Other species of lizards as well as other gecko species, should not be housed with crested geckos.
