The disassembly button is pressed prior to rotating disassembly lever down.
The disassembly button on an M9 firearm is typically pressed when the user wants to field strip the weapon for cleaning or maintenance. It is pressed after ensuring the weapon is unloaded and the slide is pulled to the rear. The button is then pressed, allowing the slide to be released and removed from the frame.
Condition 2, does not apply to the M9 Service Pistol.
