They didn't break up. Groundswell (Three Days Grace's previous name) broke up in 1997, but reformed that same year, renamed Three Days Grace. The band did not ever say why they broke up back then, but they are still together as of 2011. However, as of 1/9/2013 lead vocalist Adam Gontier departed from the band due to "non life threatening health issue". The band is still going to tour with Shinedown, though Adam will not be with them, Matt Walst will join Three Days Grace for the tour. (Matt Walst is brother of Brad Walst, bassist for Three Days Grace, as well as is singer for My Darkest Days) The Band does not know what their future will be after the tour but they say "We are taking it one day at a time"
