Reflection
Some of the light gets soaked in (absorbed) by the object, and some of it bounces off of the object and continues on in another direction. One factor that typically figures into the choice is the wavelength of the light.
Absorption.
It can be absorbed or transmitted through an object it can bend sometimes it bounces back 😉
The law of reflection states that when an object bounces off a flat surface, the angle it at which it hits the surface will be equal to the angle at which it bounces away.
When light hits an object/surface, it's either reflected, absorbed, or refracted. For light to bounce back, the reflection has to be "specular", like a mirror. So the light bounces back with the same(reflected) image. For light to be reflected back at the source. The light has to hit perpendicular to the surface, which is 90°.
