If you are out on BOND you may be ALLOWED to leave the state with permission from your court representative. It depends on the conditions of your bail agreement. If you leave without permission, it may be a violation of your bond and you may be sent back to jail until your court date. Just ask the courts, the worst they can say is no. Don't gen in more trouble than you're already in.

Additional: CAUTION! If you're out on a bond that has been posted by a bailbondsman - - IN ADDITION to getting the permission of the court to leave the state, you had BETTER also speak to the bailbondsman. He may not not want you leaving the jurisdiction of the court and running the risk of putting his bail money at risk. The bailbondsman DOES have the option of withdrawing his bond if you do not comply with HIS wishes.

In almost 100% of cases - NO. Being released on bail, means that you are probably currently charged with some offense, and awaiting court action. Not only is your release on bail subject to quite a few restrictions, the court is probably not going to allow you to move out of the court's jurisdiction - not to mention your bail bondsman, who will probably think you're going to "skip" on him. Whatever you do, CHECK WITH THE COURT first.

Any restrictions placed on your travel will be contained in the papers that you received at the time you were released.

In addition to any court restriction - if your bond money was fronted by a bailbondsman, you BETTER notify him of any travel plans you may have, or he may think you are trying to jump bail. You DON"T want to run that risk!

Is there a Georgia law that states if you are out on bond you cannot leave the state?

There is no state law governing this. That information would be contained in your "release on bond" papers. If you are bonded by a bailbondsman, I STRONGLY suggest that you do not leave the state or you will be chased down by a "skip tracer."

If someone is out on bail on felony criminal charges are they allowed to leave the state?

Nothing, being out on bail means you have not been convicted. In the United States, you are innocent until proven guilty.Another View: WRONG! First of all: If you are out on bail, you are most likely under some kind of court ordered travel restrictions (i.e.: NOT to leave the jurisdiction of the court).Second of all: If your bail was posted by a bailbondsman and you leave the state, you will have more than the law to worry about when the bondsman's skip-tracer catches you and brings you back.

Can you leave the state when out on bond?

It depends on what conditions are set by the judge when the bail is set. Often you can leave the state as long as you keep the authorities informed of your whereabouts, and, of course, if you fail to appear, you forfeit the bail -- even if you appear later.

When you are charged with a felony crime can you leave the state?

AnswerIf you are released on bond, there are rules about where you go and what you do. It depends on the bond. Bond conditions would be contained in your "release on bond" papers. If you are bonded by a bail-bondsman, you should not leave the state, or you will be chased down by a "skip tracer."

Can you leave Virginia with a misdemeanor charge pending trial?

If you are released on personal recognizance or on bond, check the court order that released you. You may, and probably do, have travel restrictions. If you are released on bond posted by a bailbondsman I would not attempt to leave the state. They particularly don't like to think that anyone is 'skipping' on them.
