No agreements or contracts or forms of any kind are signed when one becomes a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church). To become a Mormon, one is baptized. Baptism is considered a covenant or contract with God, but there is no physical paper form involved. The only official paperwork involved with becoming a member of the Mormon church is a baptism certificate signed by your Bishop.

While there aren't any agreements that are physically signed, Mormons believe that by being baptized, you are making a covenant with God. By being baptized you are symbolically signing a contract with God that you will obey His commandments and devote your life to being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

When did the Mormon Church and the Ladder Day Saints Join?

They never joined. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the official name of the church. Mormon is just a nickname that happens to be more widely known than the actual name. The name "Mormon" was given to the Church by their enemies, meant to mock them for their belief in the Book of Mormon. Latter-day Saint, LDS, and Mormon are interchangeable.

Why are there black Mormon's?

Because people of all races are welcome to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church). If someone feels that the Church is correct, regardless of their ethnicity or the color of their skin, they are welcome to be baptized and become a member of the Church. The Church teaches that all people are beloved children of God and all, regardless of race, color, or disability, are loved equally by God!

Does the Mormon church financial support the sister wives?

Most definitely not. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) banned polygamy over 100 years ago. The Church does not provide financial support to any sister-wife. The Church will provide in-kind help (food, clothing, emergency supplies, job training, etc) to people outside of their faith who apply for assistance. If you are speaking of the Sister Wives tv show, no. The Browns of the tv show are not members of the Mormon Church. Both Kody and Janelle left the Mormon Church to join the Apostolic United Brethren. Their church may provide financial support, but the Mormon church does not.

Is the Mormon religion nothing more than a structure of control over those who have the unfortunate misfortune of simply being born into the religion?

No. The LDS Church (AKA Mormon Church) is growing faster than the birth rate of its membership. About 300,000 converts join the Church annually. So a lot of people are joining the LDS Church that were not born to LDS parents.

Are Mormon women allowed to join the Eastern Star?

Yes. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) are welcome to participate in fraternal organizations so long as it does not have an effect on their obligation and service to the Church. In order to join the Order of the Eastern Star, a woman must be over 18 and be related to a man who is a Mason.

Shoud you become Mormon?

If you believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" Church) is the true Church of God on the earth, then yes, you should! However, you should not join the Church (or any Church) to please family or friends, or to receive humanitarian aid. Joining a Church should be a sincere, personal decision.

Will the Mormon Church accept someone recovering from addiction who also has tattoos?

Who were the travelers on the Mormon trail?

Tens of thousands of people traveled on the Mormon trail between 1845 and 1870 (when the train became the more common mode of transportation). Most of these were converts to Mormonism who desired or were encouraged to join with the main body of the church in Utah. Obviously they can't all be listed here. The History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints maintains a list of Mormon immigrants who traveled on the Mormon trail, click here to see it.

Do people join the Mormons to be a part of their community but leave once they figure out it is not true?

Yes. People leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) every day - thousands leave the Church each year. This is a very common thing. If you join the Church and then decide you no longer want to be a member, you can simply stop attending services. You may also choose to have your name officially removed from church records, simply ask the bishop of your congregation to do so.

Why are some people asking if one want to join the church of Satan if it does not exist in Nigeria?

When are converts officially a Mormon?

Those interested in converting to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) will first be 'investigators' of the Church. This means that they are currently investigating or studying the church to see if they would like to join. "Investigating" the Church includes attending worship services and congregational activities as well as having regular discussions or lessons with missionaries. When an 'investigator' decides that they would like to convert, they may request baptism. Following baptism, they will officially be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - a Mormon!
