Pollination is when the pollen grain lands on the stigma. It then grows a pollen tube and part of it, the actual male gamete, travels down and fuses with the ovule (egg) which is the actual fertilization.

It sounds like a mixture of both, but its probably just self pollination.

What process happens when pollen falls on a flowers pistil?

Pollination brings together the gametes of a flower and it occurs when a pollen grain of the right kind lands on the stigma of the pistil. Each pollen forms a tube that grows down through the pistil and reaches the ovule in the ovary. One of the nuclei in the pollen tube unites with the egg nucleus in the ovule to form a zygote. The other sperm nucleus combines with another bigger nucleus in the ovule which develops into the endosperm.

What is the joining of the male nucleus from the pollen grain with the egg cell in the ovule called?

Its fertilization

Where is plant pollen produced?

plant pollen is produced in the stamen then carried to the pistil where pollination occurs. in a gross way its kinda like when sperm gets to the egg. hope this helps!

How do you think pollen grains reach the pistil?

Pollen grains reach the pistil through pollination. The pollen grains are placed on the stigma of the carpal, and it transfers by wind, insects, built in mechanical discharge, and men. When the pollen lands on the stigma, it starts a series of chemical reactions that allow the pollen grain to produce a structure called the pollen tube. At the same time, the generative nucleus divides and produces two sperm nuclei. The pollen grain with the pollen tube and three nuclei is a mature gametophyte. The pollen tube works its way through the style of the carpal and touches the micropyte of the ovule. The sperm nuclei enter the embryo sac and fertilizes the egg and two polar nuclei, referred to as double fertilization. The fertilized egg develops into the immature seed plant, and the central cell develops into the endosperm, or food storage ares, of the seed.

Ways pollen can move?

There are three common kinds of pollination: self pollination, wind pollination, and insect pollination. •Self pollination is when the pollen in the stamen (male part of the plant) drops into an ovule (egg) in the ovary of the stigma (female part) of the same plant. This is why it is called self pollination. • Wind pollination occurs in plants that are all-male (its flowers only containing stamen) and all-female (its flowers only containing the stigma). The stamen develops millions of pollen grains in the spring, as the chance of the pollen reaching an all-female plant is very little, and releases it in the summer. The few pollen grains that reach an all-female plant will be likely to reach an ovule in the stigma and pollinate the ovule. • Insect pollination is used by a lot of plants. This method of reproduction is when an insect such as a bee, butterfly, moth, or sometimes a bat, reaches a flower and sucks out the nectar in the flower. As they do this, the pollen gets stuck in their legs, and when they suck the nectar from the flower of another plant, the pollen gets onto the flower and into the stigma. If the pollen from a different type of plant is put into a stigma of a plant, pollination won't occur, so God has designed the bees of each hive to suck nectar from one kind of flower each day, so that the chance of pollination will be more.

What is the name when pollen meets a egg?

What is A process in which pollen from one plant to pollinate the eggs in the flower?

I think that there are two processes: Pollination and Fertilization Pollination is when the pollen grains meet on the stigma (female reproductive organ) of another flower. Fertilization is when the pollen actually meets the egg in the ovary. (Sperm joins with egg)

When pollen joins with an egg is this pollination or fertillisation?

fertillisation BY GIMA FONSO 10

What is the difference between pollination and fertilization in angiosperm?

Pollination is the spreading of pollen from the male to the female part of a flower. Fertilization is the sperm and egg joining to form a zygote and occurs in animals.

What is the process in which pollen from one plant is used to pollinate the eggs in the flower of a different plant?

I think that there are two processes: Pollination and Fertilization Pollination is when the pollen grains meet on the stigma (female reproductive organ) of another flower. Fertilization is when the pollen actually meets the egg in the ovary. (Sperm joins with egg)

Can seeds form without pollination?

No, because pollen is required for a pollen tube to be created for the sperm cells to move into the ovary and connect with egg cells (the process of fertilization). Because then the one of the pollen's cells will divide, forming two haploid sperm. When the pollen tube reaches the ovule in the ovary, it enters the embryo sac and releases both sperm cells. Then, two fertilizations (also called double-fertilization) take place.

What is fertilization of egg cell by pollen from the same plant?

When egg cells are fertilized from the same plant is called self-pollination. Self-pollinators include certain types of fruit trees. Other types of fruit trees require two for pollination.
