When should a pregnant woman start wearing maternity clothes?

When regular clothes no longer fit.

You may find that you will get away with your pre-pregnancy tops for longer than your pants... it is not unusual to feel fine in a pair of non-pregnancy jeans one week, and to be quite uncomfortable in them a week later.

If you can, try on a variety of different styles - there are many different styles of maternity pants.. underbelly, overbelly, on the tummy, internally adjustable waistband, stretchy belly band etc

If you want to use your own pants for longer you can use a belly belt, or belly band to extend the length of time before purchasing maternity clothes.
