When solid sodium chloride dissolves in water, the resulting sodium and chloride ions are said to be the products. Product is a general term for any substance which results as the result of a chemical reaction. Thus, if the solution was to be boiled and the ions formed into a solid, the products and reactants would be reversed.

When sodium chloride is dissolved in watera chemical reaction occurs in which is the reactant?

It is not a chemical reaction, it is only a dissociation reaction:NaCl-------------------------Na+ + Cl-

When sodium chloride is dissolved in water a chemical reaction occurs in which sodium chloride is the?

There is NO chemical reaction at all when you dissolve NaCl into water. Dissolving is NOT chemical but a physical change of state. When however a reaction occurs, the original compound is called (one of) the reactant(s) and the compound(s) formed is (are) the product(s) of a chemical reaction.

Would CoCl2 6H2O cause a chemical reaction?

Cobalt(II) chloride may be a reactant in a chemical reaction.

Chemical reaction between sodium chloride and water in which sodium chloride is the reactant?

Sodium chloride doesn't react with water; after dissolution NaCl is dissociated in Na+ and Cl-.

What chemical reaction occurs when sodium chloride is dissolved in water?

No chemical reactions occur because sodium only forms ions like chloride.

What is the difference between a reaction and products of a chemical reaction?

reactant + reactant = product

Why is a catalyst not a product or a reactant of a chemical reaction?

If a substance is a reactant or product of a chemical reaction then, by definition, it cannot be a catalyst.

How do you use the words chemical reactant and product in a sentence?

Chemical: Vinegar contains the chemical, Acetic acid. Reactant: The limiting reactant weight was used to calculate the percentage yield of the product. Product: The product was nearly pure from just washing alone, following the reaction.

What is a reactant in science?

A chemical that undergoes a chemical reaction is called a reactant. The chemicals that are produced by a chemical reaction are called the products. So in a chemical reaction, reactants turn into products.

What is the definetions of limiting reactant in chemistery?

In a chemical reaction the limiting reactant is the reactant that there is the least of in the reaction; it determines the amount of product formed. In a chemical reaction it is the reactant that gets completely "used up"

A chemical reaction occurs between sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride Adding more sodium hydroxide to the reaction causes it to speed up If you add more of a reactant such as sodium hydroxide?

A chemical reaction occurs between sodium hydroxide and hydrogen chloride. Adding more sodium hydroxide to the reaction causes it to speed up. If you add more of a reactant, such as sodium hydroxide, can it be considered a catalyst? Why or why not?
