In greek mythology, Pandora was a beautiful woman, and was given the gift of curiosity along with a box from Zeus.

Zeus told Pandora never to open the box, but Pandora's curiosity led her to open the box, releasing all sorts of bad spirits that plague humanity. This was the explanation for bad traits developed by the Ancient Greeks. Anyways, Pandora was so horrified she shut the box before everything could escape it. However, all the bad spirits had escaped and she had shut in Hope, Charity, and other good spirits.

Opening Pandora's box is like letting all hell come loose.
