Possible causes. Flat battery. Starter motor jammed or faulty Bad wiring connection. Engine seized.
No, and alternator generates DC current. A starter just uses DC current to start the engine.
you mean the starter just freely spins and does not turn the engine? replace starter if the engine turns but does not start its either a fuel, spark, or compression problem. read up on how to check that.
Depress clutch and press starter button to start engine, to stop engine just press start button.
When and if the engine stops at the point where the starter gear is aligned with the missing teeth the starter will just spin and not start the engine. Over time even if the starter turns the engine over it will eventually ruin the starter. You need to replace the flywheel and the starter immediately.
is the starter engaging and turning over the engine or is it just spinning? if just spinning get new starter. if it is turning over the engine, have your ignition switch checked. if you are mechanical, the easiest way to check swith is to hot wire the engine and see if it starts
Basics, If the battery is OK and the starter just clicks it is the starter. If the starter turns the engine over but won't start it could be a crankshaft or camshaft sensor or fuel pump. It needs to be diagnosed or it can be extremely costly to just replace a lot of unnecessary parts in it.
They are just below the ignition starter key hole where you put in the keys to start the engine.
try putting gas down the carb just a little or if standard try push starting
Look for loose connections at the battery, starter solenoid, starter and switch. If all connections are good, the starter solenoid probably needs to be replaced.
Weak battery? Seized engine? Loose or corroded battery cables? Bad Starter solenoid? Bad starter? Bad neutral safety switch?
There are two SMALL wires on the starter. They are connected wrong.
