Benvolio doesn't say much but Mercutio harasses the Nurse and constantly interrupts her attempts to converse with Romeo. He finally leaves, calling her "ancient lady"

Although Benvolio (Romeo's cousin) and Mercutio are both loyal to Romeo, they act in different ways. Mercutio was willing to fight for Romeo; however, Benvolio was more of a pacifist and reacted to situations calmly.
Benvolio and Mercutio are dramatic foils for Romeo. Throughout the play they think that Romeo is in love with Rosaline and are in the dark about Romeo and Juliet and their marriage.
