The tabernacle was built according to the instructions given by God to Moses, with the help of skilled craftsmen and workers chosen by Moses. It was constructed by the Israelites during their time in the wilderness as a place of worship and to house the Ark of the Covenant.

The actual structure of God's tabernacle that was talked about in the Old Testament doesn't exist anymore. When it was built, the Israelites transported it all over the dessert when they were waiting to enter the promise land. So, it was in the desert in Israel.
The newer Craftsman workbenches are actually made very nicely. They are sturdy, easy to assemble and are built to hold up for years.
It remained in the inner sanctum of the Tabernacle. When the Tabernacle was moved, the Ark was taken with it (Numbers ch.4). When the Holy Temple was built, the Ark was placed in the inner sanctum and stayed there.
