It should be pointing to the #1 cylinder, That is the first spark plug on the driver's side up front.

Loosen the distributor, and turn it counter clockwise. This should be done with a light in measurable amounts.
You can monitor distributor degrees with a timing light.
It should be 6 degrees before tdc, just make sure you disconnect the distributor's computer control wiring harness before you adjust, and check the timing with a timing gun.
30 degrees dwell, timing is the second mark above the O mark on the timing tab.
electronic spark timing is your distributor.
