They really don't hide. They have good enough hearing and a wonderful contact system with their fellow geese that if there is a predator anywhere in the area, a goose will emit a warning call to tell all the other geese in the area to watch out. If the predator is nearby they will take to the skies to escape...most of their predaitors can't fly. If they have young who cannot fly usually the father will put up a fight. You may think a coyote may have the upper hand but a goose uses it's beak like a knife and can strike a powerful blow...maybe not enough to kill, but really hurt.
