No. A period is caused by the buildup of endometrial tissue within the uterine cavity. Without the uterus, there can be no efflux of tissue and blood, so no period. So long as you still have your ovaries, you will have normal hormones, however.

I DISAGREE. I just had a hysterectomy - removal of my uterus only - and I am spotting on the calendar day that I was due for my period. My doctor told me that it is possible that I may spot from time to time as it's difficult to remove every single uterine cell from the abdominal cavity.

Where does the removal of the uterus or womb occur?

It can happen laproscopically (meaning the surgeon makes little holes in the abdomen) and then removes the uterus. Or they can remove the uterus through the vagina (this has a shorter healing period since no surgical holes are made). Your surgeon will pick which option is better for you depending on the indication and condition of your uterus.

When you get your period it is uterus blood. Your period is the uterus shedding its lining if you do not get pregnant. All month your uterus builds up its lining for if your egg gets fertilized, and when/if it does not get fertilized, you have your period at the end of the month.
