To be safe, every 60,000 miles or so
My answer anyway . . .Unfortunately I don't think the actual service manual is available on the net for anyone's reference, you will have to purchase the actual manual. Many sites are able to offer you this option, just look under any BMW dealership site or specialists. If your looking for 320i Service Manual tryhttp://repairbooks.co.uk/cars-repair-manuals.htm#BMW
If it stalls for no reason then no one can give you an answer

i have a bmw 320i model 1999. i try to find the location of a dip stick in a automatic trnasmission.... but i cannot....
BMW recommends that the ATF does not need to be changed in the 320i.
Change the oil... at the dealer they have a device to turn this light off.
The Bentley Manual lists the correct valve clearance at 0.30mm (0.012in) with the engine hot, or 0.25mm (0.010in) with the engine cold.
where is the oil dipstick on a bmw 320i petrol engine
Hsa a red handle dip stick, car running, cycle the gears, the dip stick has low high marks
You may have to change the S.I. board batteries.
Very high (higher than 318i) consuption for 320i's for very little gain. The extra weight in the inline 6 cylinder 320i, means that the extra power it generates is wasted on the extra weight in the engine. So performance figures are very similiar, but fuel consuption for 320i is significantly higher.
I have a 1995 320i and the battery is located in the truck on the passenger side and lift out the plastic tray. The battery is below the plastic tray.
