You should feed a 5 month old baby cereal about every 4-6 hours, if your doctor feels the baby is ready for cereal.
Some babies don't start on solids until after 6 mos old, others may just be ready to start learning about solids so these babies may only eat cereal once a day. Other babies are ready to start on solids a bit younger so they may be eating 3 meals a day with their bottles in between, at this stage babies still need the majority of their calories and nutrition from either breast milk or formula.
Most doctors currently know the later a baby starts to solids, the fewer Allergies he may develop - so be sure to discuss adding solids with your Pediatrician and follow the schedule he suggests for your baby's needs.
My wife and I have a 4 month old son. We're still on formula and breast milk only. The book "What To Expect in the First Year" says the Pediatrician will probably wait until they're around 6 months old before suggesting cereal. It has something to do the baby's digestive system. It's not ready to break down solids quite yet. Basically, just wait until your Pediatrician tells you it's okay.
No i was told to try and give my 5 month old 4 meals a day by my health visitor.

Corn is very hard to digest even for adults. Have you ever noticed there are no baby food jars with corn? That is why. It is too hard for a baby to digest, especially a 4 month old.

no you shouldn't feed any dog table scraps
Let it drink its mothers milk until it is around 4 months old and then change to puppy food. Wet would be better for them because they are young.
