It's recommanded that you get your booster shot every 10 years. Some people do it, some people don't. I'm 33 years old and I haven't had a booster shot since I was 17. It's been 16 years since the last time I had it. I've had cat scratches, burns, cuts, insect bites, but no dog bites yet and I never went for a tetanus shot. I never contracted diphteria or the tetanus disease. I think our immune system gets stronger when we become adults. So my immune system must have got stronger since I was 17, but at the same time, it was luck. I don't mean to brag or anything. At 30 years old, I got a 2nd degree burn and I went to the hospital. The cleaned my burn and covered it with a bandage. They were gonna give me a tetanus shot because it had been nearly 13 years since last time I had it. I had to argue with the doctors so I wouldn't get it. Finally, I signed a contract saying that I refused the treatment and if something happened, it wasn't their fault. If I would've got diphteria or tetanus, my family wouldn't have been able to sue.
Yes
A tetanus shot is used to prevent lockjaw and other serious ailments due to germs entering a person's wounds. An adult should update their tetanus shot every ten years.

Tetanus shot.
When you're an adult, you don't have to get your tetanus shot every 10 years if you don't want to. Doctors don't have time to chase everybody to make sure they have their shots every 10 years. They have more important things to do than that. If you have diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, HIV, cancer or any other uncurable disease, your physician can force you to get vaccinated every 10 years. He/she can force you to get the flu shot every year if you have health problems. But as long as you're an adult and you have no health problems, they can't force you to get a tetanus shot. If you have a bad burn, a deep cut that requires stitches, an animal bite or a surgery, the doctors can force you to get your tetanus shot. If they don't force you to get your tetanus shot and you develop diphteria or the tetanus disease, you could sue the doctors. Or if you're in a position where you can't sue ( wich would probably be the case), your family would sue the doctors for you.
