The Tab key will move from one cell to the next in Excel, or through different options in a dialog box if one is open. If you are typing when you hit the tab key it will enter what you have typed into that cell and move the cursor one cell to the right.
Simply type in the cell like: =A3+C6 You can also click on a cell as you are typing the formula and it will be included in the formula.
If you see Ready on the status bar, it means Excel is ready for you to start typing something into the active cell. Once you start typing, you will see Enter there, or if you edit a cell you will see Edit there.
It moves to the next cell, to the right. If anything is being typed in when the tab key is pressed it will enter the data in that cell and then move to the next cell.
It means typing something as text, numbers, dates etc. into a cell, but excludes typing in formulas.
This question is not clear. You can enter a number in Excel by clicking on a cell and typing the number from the keyboard.
A formula.
First, select the cells. Then press Ctrl - 1 to open the Format Cell dialog box. On the Fill tab or Patterns tab, depending on the version of Excel you have, you can choose to colour the cells.
One Excel interface item that is not displayed until you start typing in a cell goes by several names: insertion point, insertion point indicator, cursor, "that flashing vertical bar." Also when you start typing or editing a cell, beside the formula bar the x and tick will appear, allowing you to abandon or accept what you are doing in the cell.

There is only one ribbon in Excel. It has multiple tabs. The options for borders and shading are in the Font group on the Home tab.
If you are typing something in, you can press the Enter key or press the Tab key or you could click on the green tick beside the formula bar.
