Briareos Hecatonchires was created in 1985.
Gaia's Hecatonchires (or Hekatonkheires) were Cottus, Briareos and Gyges.
The Hecatoncheires were three giant gods of violent storms and hurricanes (theullai) summoned forth from the stormy pit of Tartaros. Each had a hundred hands and fifty heads, for the weilding of the destructive power of storm - hence the title "Hundred-Handed"; their names were Kottos and Gyes and Briareos.

Uranus threw the Cyclops and Hecatonchires into Tartarus, the deepest part of the underworld, because he feared their power and strength.
Uranus feared the power and strength of the Cyclops and Hecatonchires, so he imprisoned them in Tartarus to prevent them from overthrowing him. This act angered his wife Gaia, who later helped their son Cronus overthrow Uranus and free the Cyclops and Hecatonchires.

The giant children of Uranus and Gaea were the Hecatonchires.
The committed no crimes. They were imprisoned in Tartarus because their father, Ouranos, didn't like their monstrous appearance.
The Hecatonchires (hundred-handed sons of Gaia) and the Cyclopes made them in return for being released from Tartarus.
Cronus didn't hide any children. It was his father, Uranus, who hid Cronus' brothers, Hecatonchires and Cyclopes.
Gaia never tried to kill Zeus; when the Gigantes, the race of Giants warred with Zeus and the Olympian gods, she had encouraged the Gigantes in this war because of her anger with Zeus, her grandchild, because how he had treated her children, the Titans.
