=========================================================================
Canada was the first country to be created by legislation. The British North America Act (now the Constitution Act) was the legislation that created Canada.
The Act was Proclaimed on March 29, 1867, and the date of July 1, 1867, was set as the date for the Act to take effect. The first day of July is the anniversary of Confederation and is celebrated throughout Canada as a National Holiday.
In actual fact, however:
1. The word "dominion" is not and never has been part of Canada's name. The word "dominion" was merely a term of description. See section 3 of the British North America Act(now the Constitution Act).
2. Confederation originated with only three provinces. They were Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the pre-Confederation Province of Canada. Only upon Confederation was the Province of Canada severed into the Provinces of Québec and Ontario. See section 6 of the British North America Act (now the Constitution Act).
No one technically invented Canada Day. It is just the day that Canada got independence.
It was invented so that people could remember Canada by that just like every other flag e.g. UK flag, American flag etc...
