Signal grass is Urochloa decumbens. Other like grasses are Mauritius signal grass (Urochlora mutica), palisade signal grass (Urochloa brizantha), and annual or garden signal grass (Urochloa panicoides).
Para grass (Brachiaria mutica) is a tropical grass known for its high nutritional value, particularly as forage for livestock. It contains a good balance of protein, fiber, and essential minerals, making it suitable for ruminants. The crude protein content typically ranges from 8% to 14%, depending on growth conditions, while its digestibility can vary but is generally favorable for animal intake. However, its nutritional quality can decline as the grass matures, making proper management essential for optimal forage quality.
Assurance colonies are animals that are held in captivity because they are on the endangered species list. Assurance colonies are, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red-list, animals that fall in the conservation statuses of Critically Endangered, Endangered, or Vunerable. Animals' whose conservation status are Near Threatened or Least Concern are considered to be Non-Endangeried colonies.I work in a lab where we have colonies of turtles such as the big-headed turtle (Platysternon megacephalum) and the (Mauremys mutica) that are in Assurance colonies, and turtles in non-endangered colonies such as Red-eared sliders (Trachemys scripta).Hope this helps!
