The third generation of the Honda Civic Type R (FN2/FD2) was manufactured between 2007 - 2010. If the engines are the same or are out of the same trim level an easy way to check this is an engine code will be stamped into the bottom of the block if they match its a sure fit, for example D15A2 its a commonly used engine between 84-87 which is a third generation civic. If the engine code matches it will fit right into place and just swap out any other parts needed from the 86 to the 87.
third generation

All Honda fuel pumps are in the gas tanks except for the first to third gen i believe i own a 2002 Lx and it's in the gas tanks and every civic I've worked on it's been there (you get access bu removing the rear seats and hey presto there it is inside the tank)
