This time his resignation was accepted, and Herman Van Rompuy was appointed as the next Prime Minister on December 30.However, Van Rompuy was elected to be the President of the European Council, and Leterme became the Prime Minister of Belgium again less than a year later on 2009 November 25. He once again resigned on 2010 April 22 after his coalition government lost support, but Leterme continues to act as Acting Prime Minister in the meantime.
