Yves Camille Désiré Leterme was the prime minister of Belgium in 2010. Yves Leterme first became the prime minister on 2008 March 20. He attempted to resign the first time on July 14 of that year after failing to implement 'constitutional reform' before a self-imposed date. Although this resignation was rejected, Leterme attempted to resign again on December 19 of that year following the sale of Belgium's largest financial company Fortis to BNP Paribas based in France. This time his resignation was accepted, and Herman Van Rompuy was appointed as the next Prime Minister on December 30.
However, Van Rompuy was elected to be the President of the European Council, and Leterme became the Prime Minister of Belgium again less than a year later on 2009 November 25. He once again resigned on 2010 April 22 after his coalition government lost support, but Leterme continues to act as Acting Prime Minister in the meantime.
