Catholic AnswerBlessed Mother Teresa began to teach in India in 1929, she was a solemnly professed sister of the Sisters of Loretto. In 1948, she received permission from the Vatican to leave her Order and began work in India as Missionary of Charity, the next year she started training her first sisters for this new Order. Blessed Mother Teresa died in 1997, has been beatified and, as of 2012, is under investigation for canonization.
