Nelson Mandela was a world famous South African Anti-Apartheid leader and former South African president. Mandela rose to prominence in 1952 Defiance campaign of African National Conference. He was tried for treason from 1956 to 1961 and was imprisoned for conspiracy to over throw the government and was imprisoned for life in 1962. He remain incarcerated for 27 years before being released in 1990.
