Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica was created in 1963.
Presenting, the Fabulous Ronettes featuring VERONICA ( the words Ronettes and Veronica in full caps) This was their first and signature album. Veronica has an alm ost Elizabeth Taylor- Cleo hairdo in the center position as lead singer. This is the oldest and I guess rarest Ronettes album. By the way the name of the group may in part have evolved from a trade name for a neat (tactical) Microphone called Ronette. This was a trade name.
The Ronettes were Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett, her sister, Estelle, and cousin Nedra Talley.
Veronica Bennett- now Spector, lead singer ( and how) of the Ronettes" first recorded single- after some 45 experimental takes- was Be My Baby, still their best-known and signature song.
I believe they are a sister act- so that answers your questions- the Ronettes were in normal form ( there were two back-up Ronettes- the other Talley sisters- Diane and Elaine) Veronica Bennett ( Lead) Estelle Bennett ( now deceased-her sister-back up, and Nedra Talley- Harmony. The Mothers of Veronica and Nedra were sisters- so it was a family affair. Both the Chipmunks and closer to real life- the Chipettes were comedic take-offs on the Ronettes.
As female counterparts of the Chipmunks, who by the way WERE originally based on the Ronettes but the gender was altered. the Ronettes are Veronica ( center, usually tugging on her clothes) Estelle ( who wears glasses both in real life and in the Chipette variant) and Nedra, who is seen in some cartoon with a Bare Midriff! heady stuff for kiddyland. You can"t beat Veronica for turning on the charm, though.
So Young, recorded by among others Veronica Bennett as she then was. Though credited to the Ronettes on one of their albums.
They are an obvious take-off on the Ronettes. Veronica Bennett, Estelle Bennett ( note Halo, she is upstairs now) and Nedra Talley... The Ronettes were originally known as Ronnie and the Relations- somebody in the group- probably academic Estelle- knew about Plato and the (Three Relations) in drama, which are often violated. so it goes.
The chipettes. are at least projected as, unlike say Sonny and Cher, single. ( as were their prototype, the Ronettes). Unlilke the Ronettes, they are blood sisters. In real life Ronnie ( Veronica) and Estelle ( no longer with us, but look up to Comet Bennett!) were blood sisters, Nedra was a kissing cousin, the sister of Ronnie"s Mother Married Mr. Talley. There were two other Talley sisters sometimes used as stand-ins for Ronettes out of action, as is mentioned by Veronica in her book. The Chipettes are single, as far as I know, they are only teen aged girls at best- as they are humanized chipmunks- we don"t want trouble with the ASPCA!
Yes! she appeared in a quasi-comedy setting (but did sing her title tune) On the ShaNa Na some time in the seventies, Cool!
No, they are a generally harmless cartoon based somewhat accurately on the Ronettes and their manager, Phil Spector ( who is an evil character) Theodore is Veronica, Simon is Estelle, and Alvin is a take-off on Nedra- Nedra! where "
It was probably the Ronettes with another Girl comrade such as one of Nedra"s two sisters Elaine or Diane. There were four Romanov Girls, as you recall, Olga, Tatiana, Marie, and you-know-who. it is kopecks to roubles- that Veronica played Anastasia.I have come across a photo of the Ronettes in Russian costumes including muffs, not the dirty use of the term!
You know your rock history! Veronica Bennett was the lead singer of the Ronettes. As far as I know ,discounting the ( Big TNT show) she was never in the movies. unconfirmed reports strongly suggest that Ronnie, Nedra, and Estelle played the complement of a U.F.O in a serio-comic episode of the F.B.I. sometime in the later sixties. They had the loud costumes and hair-styles Veronica could easily pass for a Girl from another planet. The Ronettes were NOT in the movie Twist around the Clock. They were in the documentary- the Big TNT show, and rumored to have been in the F.B.I,. episode about the U.F.O. so it goes.
