Reagan actually was shot, by John Hinckley Jr., but he survived the attack and lived to a ripe old age, eventually dying of natural causes (Alzheimer's disease). So he was not assassinated although assassination was attempted.

No. Reagan served two full terms as President (1981-89). After 10 years of seclusion with Alzheimers, he succumbed in 2004 at 93 years of age.

There was an unsuccessful assassination attempt, in which the president's Press Secretary, James Brady, was shot. This event prompted the Brady Bill (Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act) which enacted various points of gun control such as not allowing convicted felons to have guns.

Ronald Reagan was not assassinated when he was president, but an attempt was made. The attempt was made on March 30,1981 by John Hinckley Jr. Reagan was shot but survived.
