∙ 9y agoWe do not know when Saint Peter was born, nor when he died. Paul, in his epistles, mentions meeting Peter, perhaps in the forties of the first century, so Peter must have still been alive then, but more we do not know.
A second-century tradition says that Peter went to Rome to lead the Christian community there, and was executed by Nero in 65 CE. However, there is no suggestion in Paul's Epistle to the Romans (usually dated around 60 CE) that he expected to find Peter in Rome. Clement of Rome, who ought to have known if Peter had been in Rome only about thirty years earlier, seems unaware that Peter either came to Rome or was executed there (1 Clement).
