Lynyrd Skynyrd did in fact record a song called Curtis Lowe but I don't think that is an actual person no. curtis low is a song they have recorded. The Ballad of Curtis Loew is a song written and recorded by LS. While the group has always maintained there was no actual Curtis Loew person, it is written that possibly Grandpa Shorty Medlocke, Rickey Medlocke's granddad, was a type of inspiration for this song, as he played many different instruments very well. Ricky Medlocke was a drummer and singer in Lynyrd Skynyrd in approx. 1970, but left the group to go back to lead guitar and frontman singing for Blackfoot. Blackfoot had some success and toured heavily in the 70s and 80s, and some form of the band is still touring. Rickey M. rejoined LS in 1996 as a lead guitarist and was inducted into the RRHF recently.
