WikiAnswers was last edited a few seconds ago. Users are constantly contributing to WikiAnswers from all over the world. Since people are all over the world, when one place sleeps, another contributes.
It provides answers, in the form of a wiki (a website which can be edited by members of the public).
it gets fixed to the question you answered then edited
No, they are not. They are both collaboratively edited resources for facts, but the format is different. On WikiAnswers there is a short answer Q&A style, whereas on About.com there are collaboratively edited help articles.
nothing super bad happens, but wrong answers are more prone to being changed, which means that the last person who edited the answer will get credit instead of the person who last wrote it.
On the left, in the blue box, you can see a "Question history" link. That would have the list of everyone who has edited the question and the corresponding changes they did to the question.
In a sense, yes. Someone can answer your question but, someone else can come along and "improve" the answer. Where your answer is, there's the word "improve", when someone clicks it, they can add to the answer. If you click on your question that was answered you will see "first answered by" and then a name. To the right of that you will see "last edited by" and then a name. Last edited by is the person that added to the answer. If "first answered by" is the only person that answered your question, their name also appears next to "last edited by", even though they didn't edit. That's just the way the system is.
WikiAnswers is being updated constantly, every second in fact. Go to the homepage to see recent questions asked and answered. If you are wondering when a question was last edited, click "Question History" in the blue bar on the left hand side.
Yes. For example you would say, "I edited my term paper last night." The word edited means you have checked something.
