Well, many many years ago all of the continents were fitted togother in a supercontinent called Pangaea. But, according to plate tectonics, they spread the sea floor apart which, in then, separted in what we have now the 7 continents. In the future it probably will come back together again.

Who first noticed how the continents fit together in 1911?

Alfred Wegener first proposed the theory of continental drift in 1912, in which he suggested that the continents had once been joined together in a supercontinent called Pangaea. While his ideas were not widely accepted during his lifetime, they later formed the basis for the theory of plate tectonics.

Who obsered that the continents seem to fit together?

Alfred Wegener, a German meteorologist and geophysicist, proposed the theory of continental drift in the early 20th century based on the idea that the Earth's continents appeared to fit together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Which 2 continents fit together the best?

South America and Africa are often considered to fit together well due to their similar shapes along the Atlantic Ocean coastlines. This observation was one of the key pieces of evidence used to support the theory of plate tectonics and the concept of continental drift.

Where did all continents fit together with the least number of overlaps and gags when the continents are matched along?

The theory of plate tectonics suggests that all continents were once part of a single supercontinent called Pangaea. Pangaea began to break apart about 175 million years ago, eventually forming the continents as we know them today. The least number of overlaps and gaps occur when matching the continents along the mid-Atlantic ridge, where the Atlantic Ocean is widening.
