brake light bulb out
If the red " BRAKE " light in your dash is on that indicates that either your parking brake / emergency brake is on , or the BRAKE FLUID LEVEL in your brake master cylinder ( located in the engine compartment ) IS LOW
check the brake fluid level. try filling to top. Get it fixed !
The brake fluid level may be low in the reservoir. If the reservoir is low it's telling you the brake pads are worn down. As the brake linings wear down the fluid level drops and eventually turns on the brake light. Have a mechanic check your brakes soon. See "Related Questions" below in case the brake light in question is/are the ones in the taillights. Not uncommon for Windstar brake lights to turn themselves on.
2003 Ford Windstar brake light bulb lamp replacement: Purchase the correct replacement brake light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement brake light bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for brake light bulb lamp replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

Have someone stand behind the van while you press the brake pedal. It works equally well if you switch roles and have the other person do the brake pedal ;)
If you mean the warning light that shows BRAKE and has the exclamation mark underneath it that means either your parking brake is on or the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder in your engine compartment is low
The parking brake is only ONE of the triggers for the dashboard brake warning light. Before referring you to the "Related Questions" below, I'd suggest checking the brake fluid levels.
Start with the fuse, but won't be surprised if the brake switch up on the brake pedal isn't the real problem.See "Related Questions" below for more
