Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769. He died in Exile on St Helena in 1821. He became a Commander in the French Army & led the First Italian Campaign in 1796 in northern Italy against the Austrians. By 1800 he was First Consul and subsequently crowned himself Emperor of the French. He had spectacular military succsses in central Europe for the next decade. He was defeated in Russia in the winter of 1812, again at Leipzig in 1813, there was a brief resurgence in France in 1814, but it was too little too late. Exiled to Elba he returns in May 1815 for the Hundred Days Campaign which ends in defeat at Waterloo by the combined efforts of Wellington & Blucher.
