There appear to be two schools of thought on this subject.
One school of thought puts the founding date in contemporary times in 1906 when the Churches of Christ in the United States was recognized by the U.S. Religious Census of 1906.
And you need not read up on that because as it states,it it some mans thoughts.
The truth is,The Church of Christ was started some 2000 years ago by Jesus Christ himself.
Matthew 16:18 ...I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Romans 16:16 ...the churches of Christ....
So as we can see the oldest known document to record the history of a church called the Church of Christ was no where near the 1900's.
We see it says that the gates of hell cannot prevail against it so therefor we know it still exists today. We can know if we are apart of it simply by the name of the Church. But that is not all.We must abide in the doctrine that was laid down by the Savior. We can only find it in the New Testament.
