When was the Ranger 101-4 shotgun made?
No known sn data published.
I can say that the model 1200 Winchester shotgun was made from 1964-1981.The model 120 ranger was the entry level shotgun to the model 1200.Winchester did not keep records of the serial numbers assigned to the years of production of the model 120 ranger shotgun, but I can assume that yours was made during the same time span as the higher level model 1200.
Who made a 16 GA sxs ranger precision grade 104.3 with Sn 158172 with the barrels stamped made in belgium?
This Double barrel / sxs hammerless boxlock shotgun was made by Hunter Arms in Fulton, New York in the 20's and 30's. It was a cheap costing shotgun made to the same standards as L.C. Smith shotguns. Not much is written on the Ranger , but they were made in 12, 16, 20 and 410 ga. Hope this helps Rick
Are you sure it doesn't say 'TEXAS RANGER'? We've seen single-shot shotguns marked with a 1929 date and the words 'TEXAS RANGER' stamped in the side of the receiver. These were early H&R shotguns made for Montgomery Wards made before World War II. email@example.com Actually, the "Texas Ranger" was a name used on the Model 1929 12 guage single barrelled shotgun produced by J. Stevens for Montgomery Ward's, I am certain it was not produced…
I believe that this model of shotgun like so many others was made by Crescent Firearms Co.This company made over 100 different Guns which used trademark names for the business that ordered them.Your double barrel shotgun will bring between 100-185 dollars today depending on the overall condition of the shotgun and bores.
103.-- on a Sears Roebuck gun indicates manufacture by Marlin. I don't find a 103.7, but 103.72 and 103.74 are listed as Marlin Model 59. Brophy in his book, Marlin Firearms, a history of the guns and the Company that made them, published in 1989 by Stackpole Books, lists the Sears Ranger 103-7 as a 16 ga. Marlin Model 90 O/U shotgun.
Proofhouse.com has a store brand chart. Ranger was a name that Sears branded on firearms made for them by other companies. Sears Ranger O/U shotguns were made by Marlin. When introduced in 1937 and prior to WWII Sears used the Ranger name and JC HIggins after the war. They were sold by Marlin as the Model 90. The 103 was used by Sears to designate guns made by Marlin with the number after a period…
