I haven't had this happen to me, but it did happen to the previous owner of my '92 Grand Voyager. Chrysler had a warranty recall for this problem, and I'm fairly sure even though the brand Plymouth is now defunct, the warranty will still be honored. I'd call the nearest Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep dealership first, before you drive down to verify the warranty and to set up an appointment; they'll also probably need your vehicles VIN # to identify your vehicle.

I had the same problem with my 96 Grand Voyager. When the transmission has a problem it will lock in first gear as not to leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. There are electronics in the transmission and sensors that have detected a problem. I hate to say this but the transmission has to be rebuilt or changed.

i dont know why but mine wont shift if you go past 3 grand when you first start out. if you do you have to restart it again ,and at first dont go past 3 grand when you first take off.
either use a code reader to reset it, or unplug the battery for half an hour or so, but beware unpluging your battery will reset your clock, radio presets, and your computers settings, causing terrible fuel economy and bad power for the first half hour of driving or so
