The first space shuttle that "flew" was the Enterprise, but it was not capable of space flight. The first orbital shuttle was Columbia. The next orbital shuttle was Challenger.
The name of the first space shuttle that was run through free flight simulation was Enterprise, but the first space shuttle to actually reach orbit was Columbia in 1981.
The first space shuttle invented was the space shuttle enterprise.
The first flight into space for a shuttle was on April 12, 1981 as mission STS - 1, with John Young and Robert Crippen on-board Columbia. The space shuttle Enterprise, which was never intended for flight into space, first flew on 12 August 1977 at the start of a number of non-space test flights.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise never flew in outer space. It's only flight was an unmanned glide test.

Although the space shuttle Enterprise was the first shuttle built and test flown, it never had a space flight. The first shuttle to be launched into space was the Columbia, it was first launched on 12 April 1981. Columbia was the first spaceworthy shuttle in NASA's fleet.

The first Space Shuttle, originally called Constitution, was renamed Enterprise after a write in campaign to NASA. Although never designed for orbital flight, it was the first shuttle and was used for atmospheric tests prior to the first orbital flight of Columbia. Original designs for the shuttle began in the early 70's. Enterprise was rolled out at Rockwell Aerospace in September 1976.
The very first Space Shuttle was called Enterprise. However this was just used for test purposes and although it was initially intended to do so, it was never used for actual space flights. It was used for testing basic flight and landing operations within Earth's atmosphere. The first one to go into space was Columbia.
Enterprise was the first space shuttle orbiter built but it was used only for flight tests and was not capable of going into space. Columbia was the first orbiter built which was space worthy and launched on STS-1
The first space shuttle, Columbia, was the first shuttle launched into space on April 12, 1981. Prior to this, the shuttle Enterprise had performed flights to test various capabilities of the shuttle within earth's atmosphere. Enterprise was not designed for space flight.
