The hardest part is defining what "Super Bike" means... If you can define that, then a more accurate answer can be given.
Many agree it is probably the 1972 Kawasaki Z1 that set the standard as the first modern "Super Bike".
Others will then immediately point to the BSA Rocket 3, the Vincent Black Shadow, the Norton or even to the BMW Kompressor. All of these set major performance benchmarks for their day. Does that make them each a "Super Bike" or just a super bike?
