Calbraith Rodgers, aged 32 in 1911 made the first transcontinental flight across the US. He made a landing at Pasadena, California, on 5th November 1911, in a Wright biplane. Added to this - He is reported to have carried the first transcontinental mail pouch. It is believed that he toke his own ground crew who were there purly to repair the plane following some very hard landing made by Rodgers
