Sir Henry Bessemer invented the furnace which was instrumental in making the steel manufacturing process more effective. But it was Andrew Carnegie who implemented the furnace in his steel plants along with a few other innovations which made the steel manufacturing process cheaper.

Some will give credit to Sir Henry Bessemer invented the modern day blast furnace in 1855. However, if you look historically the Chinese invented the blast furnace. By at least the 4th century the Chinese have developed blast furnaces to obtain cast iron from iron ore. This was 1200 years before the first blast furnace showed up in Europe.
Inventor Granville Woods received his first patent on January 3, 1884 for a steam boiler furnace.
In 1865, the French engineer Pierre-Γmile Martin took out a license from Siemens and first applied his furnace for making steel. Their process was known as the Siemens-Martin process, and the furnace as an "open-hearth" furnace.
