The dodo is an extinct bird. The last dodo birds were killed in the 1500's.
The last known living dodo bird evidently died in captivity sometime after 1647. If it reached the supposed maximum lifespan of 17 to 21 years, it would have died by no later than 1665. The last sighting of a wild dodo was in 1662. All of the preserved remains in museums were lost or destroyed except for some bone fragments and a dried head.

the last man to kill a dodo bird didnt know it was the last one on the Earth or even on the island where it residen back in 1689 not 1860.
The last confirmed sighting of a dodo was in the late 1600s, and it is believed that the last individual likely died around the same time due to habitat destruction and hunting by humans.
it was last seen in mauritius 1651
Dodo birds are extinct due to the actions of humans...so, if you see animal now it was alive in the time of the Dodo bird. General consensus is that the last animal died in the late 17th earily-18th century. It was indigenous to Mauritius Island had no fear of humans and couldn't fly so was easily caught. The fact that humans brought dogs, cats, pigs et cetera (that ate eggs, chicks and birds) and destroyed much of their habitat along with consumption of the birds by people led to the extinction of the both the Dodo and the Red Rail (another flightless bird).
It's the Dodo you fools
